Anionic sodium dodecylbenienesulphonate (DBS) can be photodegradated in aqueous suspension of TiO2 powder by irradiation with a 300W high pressure mercury lamp. The photocatalytic ability of anatuse and rutile TiO2 in the solutions at different PH values has been studied. The effects of adding H2O2 and Cu2+ on the photodegradation have also been discussed. The results show that anatase TiO2 has a more efficiently catalytic ability than rutile TiO2. H2O2 can reduce the rate of degradation in a basic solution. Cu2+ can increase the rate of degradation in an acidic solution.
