he recognition of cumulative impact can be largely attributed to the development in environmental impact assessment. This article reviews definitions and conceptual frameworks of cumulative impact and describes analytical approaches to cumulative impacts assessment(CIA). Based on this review, the flexible application of CIA to policies, plan or programs were proposed and some immedite research needs were suggested.
