| Because of its high sensitivity, high specificity and simplicity,POlymerase Chain Reaction(PCR)has been widely used to detect pathogenic bacteria,indicator bacteria and viruses in environmental samples since its creation in 1985.A review was made on the fundamental priciples,methodology and current status of the applications of PCR to environmental microbiology. |
